Restrict address ranges for open ports

For open ports, you can enable and disable access to certain address ranges.

If no restrictions are specified (default setting), all addresses can be read and written.

If Transparent is set for the COM interface, all area restrictions and mappings are ignored.

You can specify up to ten restrictions for each port.

You can define word areas (16 bits) only. Bit areas cannot be specified.

  1. Go to Port > Memory area restrictions and mapping and select the desired port.
  2. Select Add new.

Restrictions are automatically added and deleted when you add or delete a port.

  3. Select a memory area in the Memory area restrictions and mapping list.
  4. For Memory area, select the memory area of the PLC.

Available areas: DT, FL (FP2SH only), LD, WR, WL, WY, WX. If Modbus/TCP gateway is enabled, you can map the memory area to a Modbus data type.

  5. For Start address and End address, set the first and last address of the range that can be accessed.
  6. For Access, select the type of access which is permitted: Read, Read/write, or Block.

When Allow FPWIN Pro is enabled, you must explicitly block the memory areas you want to protect. When it is disabled, all unspecified memory areas are automatically blocked.

  7. Save your configuration.

When you have changed any settings, a Save button appears in the upper right corner of the screen. You can make changes on multiple pages and then save your settings.

To reset all settings on the current page to the default configuration, select the Reset button at the bottom of the page.
